Celtic defender Efe Ambrose won’t produce one of his trademark acrobatic celebrations against the Bhoys tomorrow if he scores, because he has too much admiration for the club.
Ambrose is in line to make a Celtic Park return with Greenock Morton in the Scottish Cup after a 169-appearance career with the Hoops.
Speaking to The Mail ahead of Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off, Ambrose said: “I’ve too much respect for Celtic, so I wouldn’t celebrate with a somersault. I’ll always keep that place special in my heart. I took so many Celtic strips back to Nigeria from there. I can see them everywhere whenever I return there.”

Ambrose has been a consistent starter for Morton since signing up in October and even scored a crucial goal for them in a 2-1 win over Partick Thistle – which did produce the famous celebration even at 34!
Elsewhere in the new interview, the former Bhoys defender reflected on the most memorable match of his career – the 2-1 win against Barcelona back in 2012.
He said [The Mail]: “Nobody gave us a chance but every strategy worked for us. The manager told us all what we had to do and not to worry about the fact we wouldn’t get much of the ball.
“He said the place we could hurt them was set-plays as they were quite small, so every ball was thrown into the box.
“The goal (Victor) Wanyama scored was something we’d worked on. They outclassed us in almost every aspect but Fraser Forster was incredible. It’s a game that stands above any other.”
Ambrose has returned to Celtic Park as a player previously with Hibernian and Livingston, but no doubt fans will give him a warm welcome in and around the stadium tomorrow. He was popular with many during his time here.
Obviously, everyone is looking for a Bhoys win so Ambrose’s day can’t go too well, but hopefully he enjoys his trip to Paradise regardless.
