Jack Hendry renaissance has got the Celtic supporters discussing key question

So the Jack Hendry renaissance has apparently got the Celtic supporters locked in discussion on social media.

Who could’ve imagined this would’ve been a talking point? Potentially bringing him back from his Belgium loan spell with KV Oostende? That would’ve been unthinkable just several months ago when the season started.

When the Hoops signed Shane Duffy, we looked to have a heck of a defensive group at the club. Kris Ajer, Chris Jullien, Hatem Elhamed, and Nir Bitton were other potential options for Neil Lennon. Yet, looking through them, only Ajer has really had a standout season. Three others have disappointed whilst one – Jullien – has had his problems with injuries.

All of a sudden, Celtic need reinforcements. That’s coincided with another Hendry goal against Charleroi yesterday. It’s his second goal of the season and ha subsequently thrown a spotlight on how well he’s playing.

Indeed, the former Dundee man is playing 90 minutes every week. And in a decent league as well in the Belgian Pro.

Jack Hendry performing well in Belgium; Celtic supporters split on calling him back

His performances have caught the eye of some. Some who believe that he’s worth another shot at Parkhead. Some who think that he couldn’t possibly be worse than what’s currently operating at the back.

Then you have the other side of the support. The element who believe it’s a laughable notion and that Hendry was sent away for a reason. An element that think we’re forgetting just how poor he was in Glasgow.

Indeed, before he was sent out on loan, Hendry hadn’t played since February. He had already been sent out on loan for the second half of last season to Australia. His spell with Melbourne City came to an unfortunate early conclusion when the A-League was shut down due to Covid.

But Neil Lennon has never appeared to fancy him. The Celtic boss has only given Hendry one Hoops appearance since becoming manager two years ago next month. That was an 11-minute cameo against Partick Thistle in a League Cup match in September 2019.

In any case, his form has got fans talking. Here’s a look at some of the opinions flying around on Twitter regarding the former Brendan Rodgers signing:
