Celtic star James Forrest is delighted with Fraser Forster’s penalty heroics this season, revealing that spot-kicks are something that the goalkeeper practises with his teammates in training, The Scottish Sun report.
Forster has come up with massive penalty saves this term, shutting out Rangers in the League Cup Final and ensuring we secured a draw away to Copenhagen in the Europa League on Thursday night.
His presence and confidence between the sticks is exceptional and in the biggest moments there’s an expectation he pops up with the saves needed to pick up big results.
Forrest has now praised his teammate for his European heroics, telling The Scottish Sun: “I was standing right behind it. Fraser did really well to touch it on to the post and fair play to the big man for that. It kept us in it and I think from there you could maybe say 1-1 was a fair result.
“A few of the boys practise penalties against him in training. He’s saved the last two, so that’s great for him, and he’ll be feeling really confident about facing them.
“It gives all the boys a lift to know you’ve got someone like that playing behind you.”
More penalties are a Thursday possibility
With the European knockout format being what it is, there’s a decent chance that Forster could be involved in much more penalty action this week if Celtic have something of an off night.
A 1-1 repeat at Celtic Park against Copenhagen would see the tie go to extra time and potentially penalties, putting the Englishman centre stage in our quest to reach the last 16.
That nailbiting scenario isn’t one I want to particularly think about but it’s pleasing to hear that penalties seem to be regularly practised at Lennoxtown with Forster and not just rushed ahead of this week’s fixture.

If it does come to pass though then there will at least be some confidence that we have the man in place to give us the best chance of emerging as penalty victors.
The big man would likely intimidate the coolest of Danish penalty takers.
