Celtic already have their answer on James Forrest. What came out of Hampden did not leave room for doubt, it simply confirmed what the club are now dealing with.

It came after Celtic’s 6-2 Scottish Cup semi-final win over St Mirren, a game that swung wildly before being decided in extra time. The match turned when Celtic became ruthless and hit four goals in six minutes in extra time.

Forrest was right in the middle of it again where his superb substitute appearance sparked the four-goal blitz drawing praise after being described as “special” by Martin O’Neill after the match.

Celtic get their answer from James Forrest at Hampden

The contract question came quickly, and Forrest did not hesitate. His response was direct and leaves Celtic in no doubt about where his head is at.

Forrest said, “I’ve spoken to the club a couple of times but the main thing I think I’ve always said is I’ve been here my full career and I don’t want to play anywhere else.

“I’ve made it clear that the main thing is contributing for the team in that as well and then my situation will sort itself out.

“I know he’s [Martin O’Neill] spoken to me a couple of times in the last couple months but I’ve just said like I don’t want to go anywhere else, I just want to be here.”

“The club know that, so that will definitely get sorted… I’m just kind of focusing on the games.”

Those lines came after he confirmed he had spoken to the club a couple of times, and that he is focused on contributing for the team. The message is clear for Celtic.

Celtic decision now clear as Forrest removes all doubt

There is no ambiguity in what Forrest wants. He has stated his position, repeated it, and backed it with the same message throughout.

He does not want to leave, he is not pushing for anything publicly, and he expects the situation to resolve. That removes the player from the equation.

The focus now shifts to Celtic. If there is any delay or uncertainty, it sits with the club rather than the player.

Martin O’Neill made his stance clear about offering Forrest a new Celtic deal as the Hoops boss declared he wants the winger to sign up for another year.

This is all happening in the middle of a run-in that still carries league pressure and a cup final ahead. Forrest has made it clear his priority remains on the pitch while the rest takes care of itself.

Celtic do not need to guess anything here. Forrest’s message has already been delivered, and it has been delivered more than once.
