Celtic’s James Forrest has selected his favourite ever Hoops assist, as he answered fans’ questions on the official club website.
Assists have been a key part of Forrest’s game for years. Indeed, this season, he has 16. Now he has chosen his favourite, which took place in the Champions League.
“That was a great finish”
“Let’s say the one for Cal’s goal against Bayern Munich in the Champions League at Celtic Park in 2017. He always makes brilliant runs off the ball, which makes my job easier, but that was a great finish as well against one of the best teams in Europe” Forrest said, as quoted by the official Celtic website.
The goal has to go down as one of the best that the Hoops have scored in Europe in recent seasons, and Forrest played a huge part in the goal.
Took out defence with one pass
He spotted Callum McGregor making a run from the wing on the edge of the penalty area. Forrest then beat his man, and with one pass took out the Bayern defence, putting McGregor clean through.
The Hoops midfielder then finished in style, placing the ball through the goalkeepers’ legs. It truly was an exceptional goal, and Forrest deserves credit for having the version to set the goal up.
With football currently in lockdown, it might be a while yet before we get another chance to see one of those superb Forrest passes again.
Hopefully when football returns, the Hoops winger can add more assists to his tally for the season, and help Celtic clinch nine in a row, or start the campaign for 10 in a row in style.
