As Celtic continues their preparations to face Wolves in Dublin in the next stage of their preseason preparations, there is another significant date in the calendar that the club have got to look forward to.
Club legend, James Forrest‘s testimonial is less than five days away as Celtic and the fans get ready to pay tribute to the winger for the service he has given to the club since he joined us at the tender age of 13.
Forrest has been a major player in Celtic’s success over his career. The winger has played, and scored, in every one of our nine-in-a-row seasons as the former Scotland winger amassed an incredible 23 trophies at Celtic.
And now, he is set to face Athletic Bilbao on the 1st of August at Celtic Park. But the club have just announced that Forrest has chosen two charities that will benefit from a ‘significant proportion’ of the funds raised from the fixture.

Kilbryde Hospice and the Celtic FC Foundation will both benefit from the match in what can only be described as a wonderful gesture from the Hoops legend.
Tony Hamilton, Chief Executive of Celtic FC Foundation, said, “We are exceptionally grateful to James for making such a significant contribution towards the Foundation.
“James exemplifies everything that is good about our football club. He’s a one-club man and has been an exceptional talent, and all of us wish him well for this very special match against Athletic Club.” [Celtic FC]
And Fundraising Manager for Kilbryde Hospice, Lesley Wiggins was equally delighted, “We are truly grateful to Celtic Football Club, James Forrest and the testimonial committee for choosing Kilbryde as a beneficiary of this amazing event.

“The rising cost of living has led to the hospice being called on to raise more money than ever before, to continue to provide care and support services to terminally ill patients and their families.”
The Celtic fans know all about the great work the Celtic Foundation carry out in the UK, Ireland and globally. The Kilbride Hospice helps provide palliative care and support to patients and families of patients with life-limiting illnesses such as cancer, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson and Multiple Sclerosis. What a brilliant gesture from the Celtic winger and I think we can all agree that the donation will go a long way to helping both of these fantastic causes.
There are still tickets available for the testimonial and can be purchased online at Celtic FC.
