The Celtic celebrations against Motherwell didn’t overly stand-out, but there was one moment that caught the Hoops supporters’ eyes.
Everyone will have their favourite goal of the weekend, whether it be Albian Ajeti’s powerful finish, or perhaps even Christopher Jullien’s beautifully cool left-footer late on.

But it was James Forrest’s opener in the 3-0 win that saw the most passionate celebration take place. Indeed, when Forrest faded in a fine strike just before the break, he poured out all of his emotions after what has been a frustrating start to the campaign for the Scotland international.
It certainly didn’t go over the supporters’ heads either. You can watch an up-close video of the celebration below, as we show what the fans are saying about Forrest’s release on social media:

A big weight off Forrest’s mind
Before yesterday’s match, James Forrest had played 376 minutes of football this season without getting on the scoresheet (Transfermarkt). He did have one assist to his name against Hamilton on opening day, but it was clear having not scored this term was frustrating him.
What Forrest showed wasn’t an everyday goal celebration. It was the release of a player who is itching to make a positive influence for the club in what can only be described as a season of seasons.
The winger will also be aware of the criticism that has surrounded his early season performances so far. However, in the contest against Motherwell, the manager believed he looked back to his best (Celtic TV). He wasn’t wrong either.

Consistency has been an issue for Jamesy over the last 12 months however. The odd positive display at home to a Motherwell or Ross County isn’t unusual. It’s following it up with a run of impressive displays that has evaded the Scotland international.
Now, however, Forrest heads off on international duty having finally relieved himself of his goal drought. He’ll now take on Israel, the side he bagged a hat-trick against the last time he faced them at Hampden.
Hopefully that’s a sign that the winger will build on his effort from the weekend. It’s the 10-in-a-row season, and Forrest simply has to be on his game.
