Italian football expert James Horncastle expects that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be available to take on Celtic in the Europa League on the 22nd of October, the Totally Football Show reports.

The Milan striker has been out of action for a while after testing positive for Covid-19. However, Horncastle has revealed that he will be back in action after the international break.

“I think it’s encouraging that they’ve got nine from nine going into the international break, and they’ll have Zlatan back once it ends…pretty positive I must say at Milan” Horncastle said, appearing on the Totally Football Show podcast (59:45, 06/10/20).

Won first three league games

Milan have indeed started the season well, winning their first three games. However, that run could come to an end soon. Milan’s league game before the trip to Celtic Park is the Milan derby versus Inter.

Back to Ibrahimovic, and Milan will have a big decision to make about the player. They will have to decide if he will be fit enough to play at Celtic Park after spending so much time out of the side battling the virus.

Hoops face similar situation

It is a situation Celtic will also have to face when it comes to Odsonne Edouard. The French striker has also tested positive for the virus. The Hoops will need to wait and see if he can take part in the Glasgow derby, or the game against Milan.

That is a decision that Neil Lennon will be weighing up, along with the football authorities. Still, for the game overall it is a good thing that Ibrahimovic will be available for the match at Celtic Park.

You want to see the best players in the world at Celtic Park. Ibrahimovic’s return to the stadium after 19 years deserves to be a big deal. It is just a shame that no fans will be around to see the player in action.

In other news, Celtic need to sign up Karamoko Dembele on a new deal before he is free to talk to other clubs.
