Celtic’s Ryan Christie has been one of the Hoops’ best players this season. He didn’t find the back of the net against Cluj, but he turned in an all-action performance in the Hoops’ 2-0 win.

His performance was singled out by BBC pundit James McFadden. He identified how Christie’s game has improved over the past few years.

“The difference between him and three or four years ago is that he’s running directly at goal. He’s not running out wide in to space. He’s committing opposing players” he said, as quoted by BBC Sport (03/10 live match page 21:09).

Christie pulled the strings for Celtic in the middle of the park. Perhaps the only down side for the Hoops is that Christie didn’t find the back of the net.

Upped his game significantly

Christie really has upped his game for the Hoops over the last year. He has gone from being a bit-part player at the club to becoming a first-pick for the side.

However, Neil Lennon will still be delighted with how Christie performed in the game. The trio of Christie, James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard really make Celtic tick. That was shown once more against Cluj.

Celtic have really turned their season round since they lost to Cluj in the Champions League in August. Christie deserves plenty of credit for helping the Hoops to get over what could have been a season defining defeat.
