James McFadden labels Celtic youngster 'absolutely magnificent'
Former Scotland international James McFadden has labelled Celtic youngster David Turnbull ‘magnificent’ after his latest performances for the club.
Neil Lennon has recently introduced Turnbull as a regular in the Bhoys starting eleven.
The former Motherwell star has repaid that faith with essential goals against Ross County and Hamilton in the Scottish Premiership.
He’s been a vital part of a recent Celtic resurgence.
McFadden reckons the Hoops are now on the right track, even if the situation in the title race is precarious.
Speaking to Sky Sports this morning, the pundit said: “I don’t think there’s any margin for error for Celtic. They have to keep winning, forget what’s happening with Rangers.
“They can hope they drop points of course, but they need to make sure they’re winning games. They are on the right track, and their form is picking up.
“The introduction of Edouard, along with Griffiths, like last season, will prove crucial for them in order to win games.
“David Turnbull has been absolutely magnificent since stepping into the side, and they are improving. It’s all about building towards this big game at the end of the week.”
A Celtic stand-out
Turnbull has indeed one of the most celebrated performers in the Celtic team of late. The summer signing, along with Ismaila Soro, has revitalised Lennon’s midfield area.
The 21-year-old’s most significant tests are to come. The Scotland U21 international is in line to start the biggest match of his career against Rangers on Saturday.
We’ll know a lot more about his current ability after that one. Although he’s already made a breakthrough into the senior side, that match could be the making of him at Celtic.
His vision, composure and attacking ambition could just be the kind of weapon we need to get the better of Steven Gerrard’s outfit.
What an opportunity for him to cement himself as a Celtic go-to.
