Jason Cundy overstepped the mark on Thursday when he claimed that Celtic had “shamed Scottish football” in our defeat to Copenhagen.
The radio personality was speaking on talkSPORT (quotes written on talksport.com) when he decided to aim fire at Neil Lennon’s treble chasers.
“Rangers have embarrassed them,” the English loudmouth said.

“Celtic have shamed Scottish football.
“They went out 4-2 on aggregate.”
We all appreciate Cundy’s need to overdramatise everything. He does have a radio show to promote after all.
But it’s also important that we realise what he is actually saying – and hold him to account for it.

Cundy should have chosen his words more carefully
Losing to the Danish champions in the knockout rounds of the Europa League isn’t a shameful result.
It was a hugely disappointing evening but it’s important that we get the language right.
Celtic haven’t embarrassed Scottish football either. When we exited the Champions League to Cluj in August, many Hoops supporters would probably have settled for post-Christmas Europa League football.
At that stage we weren’t even guaranteed to make the group stage, with Swedish champions AIK lying in wait.
Given that we’ve since helped the coefficient with wins over Lazio, Rennes and Cluj, you would argue we had enough credit left over to cover last night’s disappointment.

Many would perhaps concede that Rangers have embarrassed us a little by making the last 16, but is that really relevant to us anyway?
At the end of the day we’re the ones 12 points clear at the top of the Premiership, and three wins away from another Scottish Cup triumph.
Everything isn’t all rosy at Celtic Park. But it certainly isn’t time for cracked crests either.
Cundy should stick to English football in future. He only embarrasses himself when he broadens his horizons.
