Jens Berthel Askou has told of his Motherwell blueprint just days before Parkhead visit, and weeks after Celtic chatter.

The Fir Park boss appears to be highly sought after and has been tipped to become the next permanent Celtic manager.

Askou has Motherwell playing great football as the Lanarkshire club sit fifth in the Scottish Premiership table.

And with Celtic up next, Askou has spoken about his commitment to Motherwell despite being linked to the Hoops job.

The Danish manager appears to be committed to the ‘Well for the long-term as Askou shares his ‘plans for the future’ at Fir Park.

Askou told SunSport, “My legacy here is not in my mind, because I’m still here. I’m planning for the future with this club, with Kyrk and all the other guys behind the scenes.

“But what I will say is that the clubs who are most successful are also consistent in their style, not just with necessarily the same staff and the same players.

“It has shown and it’s very evident that consistency, when you’re doing something right, is the key to being successful over time.

“Especially in clubs which don’t have the most resources to repair bad spells by changing the way you recruit and play all the time.”

Askou hopes to ‘leave an impression’ at Motherwell

Askou has taken Scottish football by storm and it’s little wonder he’s being linked to Celtic when you look at their attacking style of play and defensive record.

While he appears happy right now, Askou admits he knows that his time at Fir Park is limited, “I know, and every manager or player should know, that you’re only there for a brief spell in that club’s history,” continued Askou.

“This is a very old and proud club. So you try to look after it while you’re here and give it your best every single day.

“And then you hope some of that will leave an impression and some good memories to the guys who will be here for generations.

“If that’s the case, then I think you’ve done something right.”

Askou appears to be all-in at Motherwell, but if Celtic did come calling, could the Danish coach really turn down a once-in-a-lifetime chance to manage in Paradise?
