Celtic’s Jeremie Frimpong certainly has a way with words. His ‘oh my days’ comments after the Betfred Cup Final were warmly welcomed by the Hoops support.

Now he has some more interesting comments to make. In the latest issue of the Celtic View (Volume 55, Issue 34, Page. 14) he is asked to describe his team-mates in a single sentence. The answers will no doubt be lapped up by the Hoops support, as they are very amusing.

“What a guy”

On describing Ryan Christie  – ‘Messi’. Callum McGregor – ‘Maestro’. Scott Brown – ‘what a guy’. Kristoffer Ajer – ‘Thinks he’s faster than me (he’s not)’.

The comments sum up the kind of infectious personality that Frimpong has. He still seems to be a bit in awe of the fact that he plays for the Hoops first-team.

The comments on Brown are illuminating. He seems to get on well with the Hoops skipper, who is certainly a leader on the pitch, and you would imagine in the dressing room too.

Comments are extremely amusing

As for the comments on Ryan Christie, they can’t really be taken that seriously. After all, he isn’t as good a player as Lionel Messi…yet.

As for Ajer, is he faster than Frimpong? The jury is still out on that one. Frimpong seems to have settled into the Celtic first-team very quickly judging by his comments on his team-mates.

That is testament to his ability as a player. He might still be in awe at his rise to the first-team, but that isn’t affecting his performances on the pitch.

It will be interesting to see how he fares after the winter break. You would imagine that at some stage of the season, Neil Lennon would like to give the player a break after making his breakthrough into the first-team. Until then though, Frimpong is likely to be a mainstay in the Hoops side. He has certainly earned it.
