Celtic starlet Jeremie Frimpong has become a star almost overnight thanks to his two excellent performances for the Hoops first-team this season.
He has not looked out of place against either Ross County or Partick Thistle. Now he has explained how he managed to catch the eye of Hoops boss Neil Lennon. It was by impressing the Hoops boss during training.
“I was really good in that”
“There was one session where we did like an 11 a side, and I was really good in that, and he was like ‘oh, fantastic’, and I was waiting to go home, and he was like ‘just be ready'” Frimpong said, in a video that appeared on Celtic’s YouTube channel.
Impressing a manager on the training ground is a bit like a throwback to the old days of football. It is good to see that trying hard and making a mark against more established opponents earns you a spot in the first-team.
It is also good to see that Frimpong admitted that his performance in training was ‘very good’. That sort of attitude could take him far in the game.
A pity he will miss out on Europa League clash

It is just a pity for the player that he will miss out on the upcoming Europa League game against Lazio. He is not included in the Europa League squad.
However, two games in a week might have been too much anyway for a player who is just 18. It will be interesting to see when he makes his next appearance for the Hoops. Will Aberdeen away on Sunday be too much of a test for the player?
That will be up to Neil Lennon. However, you would not bet against Frimpong coming through that test with flying colours.
