Celtic’s Jeremie Frimpong and Fraser Forster may have only played together for a short time. However, Frimpong is already impressed with the ability that the Hoops goalkeeper has.
Frimpong is particularly impressed with how Forster plays on the training ground. According to the Hoops full-back, Forster is ‘too good’.
“Do you want to let us score?”
“Even in training, you can’t score past him! I’m like, are you okay? Do you want to let us score, maybe just once? I heard he gets called the Great Wall after the Barcelona win on 2012 – I can believe that. He’s too good” Frimpong said, as quoted by the Celtic View (Volume 55, Issue 24, Page. 13)
Arguably Forster’s best performance for the Hoops in his second spell at the club was in the Betfred Cup Final against Rangers. Frimpong was sent-off in that game, but that didn’t stop Forster from making a number of fine saves.
Forster must be determined even in training not to concede a goal, judging by Frimpong’s comments. That is the mark of how professional a player he is. Frimpong’s emergence into the Celtic team and Forster’s return to the club on loan from Southampton are two of the bigger surprises that have happened this season.
How long will both players be at club?
However, both players have made a very positive impact on the team. The question that has to be asked now, is how long both players will play together at Celtic Park?
Frimpong should be at Celtic for a few more seasons at least. After all, he is only at the start of his career. The future is unclear for Forster. He is returning to Southampton at the end of the season, and after that who knows?
All at Celtic will be hoping that his loan deal can eventually be made into a permanent one. It remains to be seen if that will happen, but Frimpong seems to hope it will, judging by his comments. He will want to be in the same team as Forster for a while yet.
