This is a transfer rumour that has been doing the rounds for a number of months now.

Young Jeremie Frimpong has been the transfer talk of the town ever since his sparkling form for Bayer Leverkusen caught the eye of some of Europe’s top clubs.

The young Dutch right-back has reportedly been on the radar of Erik ten Haag’s Manchester United and Fabrizio Romano has now said that the 22-year-old is now ‘keen’ on a move to the English Premier League giants.

Celtic will be due a reportedly huge 30% sell-on of any future profit on Frimpong [Daily Record] which means that Ange Postecoglou could see his summer transfer budget increased considerably should a move materialise when the season ends.

Since moving to the Bundesliga in 2021, Frimpong has featured 84 times for the German side scoring ten and creating 18 goals [Transfermarkt].

That kind of form alerted Manchester United who seem to have identified Frimpong as the perfect player to challenge Diogo Dalot for the right wing-back position at Old Trafford.

With Romano confirming that Frimpong’s agent has already met with Bayern Munich and Barcelona, this can only be good news for Celtic as a bidding war can only push up the price of the talented right back.

Frimpong was called up to the Dutch national squad for the Qatar World Cup last winter but unfortunately didn’t manage to earn his first cap.

If he continues to develop at the rate he has been going and a move to any of the clubs Romano has mentioned, it is only a matter of time before he becomes a fully-fledged member of the Dutch side which will only enhance his reputation, and value, further.
