Jeremie Frimpong’s attitude and enthusiasm for Celtic was on full show yesterday at Pittodrie.

But it wasn’t all just on the pitch either. Off of it, he’s showing just as much passion as he does on the field. Frimpong made his third appearance for the club against the Dons yesterday afternoon.

It was a fine display too. Frimpong looked delighted as he nabbed his first-ever Celtic goal, and also managed his second assist in green-and-white too. It was certainly a fine display as he continued to grow his reputation as a star for both the present and the future.

And as he spoke to Celtic TV post-match, Frimpong continued to impress with his attitude and sheer passion. You can watch the clip by clicking here, but here’s what he had to say:

“Hey it’s the best feeling ever, oh my gosh! The fans….it was just a quality cut-back from Odsonne and I just….it was a bit scrappy but I don’t care – it went in. It was all I wanted. It was good.

“Coming into this game, I was like ‘Aw I might score, I’ve got to score because I’ve just got an assist. Either an assist or score’. Either one of them, and I got a goal so I was just buzzing. So it was really good.

“There was one period we kept the ball for like 10 minutes – I was so pleased with the team. We’re so calm. Scott Brown said at the start ‘we’ve got to win this’. He just motivated everyone. Hopefully, we keep this going.”

Infectious, enthusiastic, and full of quality

There’s such a youthful enthusiasm from Frimpong that we haven’t seen from anyone else in the first-team. He seems so eager to impress and make his mark at the club, and it clearly excites him just as much as it does the supporters.

Even this early, it looks like the correct decision by the Dutchman to come to Parkhead and hone his craft. Instead of being just another number at Manchester City, he’s flying high in the Scottish Premiership and looks a serious contender for the right-back spot.

It’s a bit of a throwback to when Timothy Weah joined the club in January. The American was another who seemed as though he couldn’t wait to make an impression. Frimpong gives off that same kind of vibe.

Next up on Wednesday night is Celtic vs St Mirren. Frimpong will be itching to play in that contest as well, and you wouldn’t bet against him making another energetic impression on supporters.

Frimpong plays the way he behaves. He’s full of life and full of passion. It’s the kind of attitude that supporters can seriously get behind. His off-field personality certainly helps get the fans on-side, and he’s currently one of the most enjoyable players to listen to when it comes to off-field interviews.

This post-match interview is just another example of that energy he seems to have in abundance. And it all bodes well for Neil Lennon and Celtic.
