Slavia Prague manager Jindřich Trpišovský has caught the eye of some Celtic supporters after showing up Brendan Rodgers and Leicester City in the UEFA Europa League last night.

Slavia won 2-0 away from home to progress into the last 16 of the competition, outclassing and outsmarting the cash-rich English Premier League team.

They played with organisation, commitment and incisive counter-attacking – exactly the kind of performance we’ve seen too little from Celtic in Europe.

Bookmakers are listing Trpišovský as one of the candidates for the Celtic position, though at the moment he’s an outsider.

Intriguingly, his Slavia side have now drawn Rangers in the next round of the European competition, adding another narrative to the whole idea of him arriving as Bhoys boss.

We’ve written about Trpišovský twice on 67 Hail Hail before, earlier this month when Neil Lennon was still in charge, and yesterday before he faced the Foxes.

We consider him to be one of the outstanding rising coaches in Europe. Put simply, it’d already be a bit of a coup for Celtic to land him. If he doesn’t become manager here, he’s destined for a bigger league or club somewhere else.

Winning multiple domestic trophies in his native Czech Republic, as well as making fine progress with Slavia in the Europa and Champions League, he’s a man to keep an eye on over the coming weeks and months.

These Celtic fans have been taking to social media recently to discuss his potential appointment…
