Lazio attacker Joaquin Correa has claimed that his side didn’t deserve to be beaten by Celtic during our recent Europa League encounter with the Italians at Celtic Park, The Scottish Sun report.
Neil Lennon’s Bhoys emerged victorious by a 2-1 margin against the Serie A side, coming back from a goal down to show that we definitely belong at that level.
Correa though doesn’t think we did enough to earn the three points, telling reporters that his side are looking to prove they are the better team when we travel to Rome on Thursday night.
As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said: “We have been playing really well for a few weeks now and this was just the latest big win for us.
“Even when we lost, like in Glasgow against Celtic, we actually played really well. We didn’t deserve to lose, but we have a chance to make up for it this week.
“Football can be like that sometimes where you are playing well and you still go away with nothing. But if we keep playing like that, we will win far more than we lose.”

Perfect motivation
Correa may have had a point if Celtic had been struggling in the competition and fluked a result against his side. The fact is though that after three games we are top of Group E and a full four points ahead of Lazio.
They failed to beat both Cluj and us, while we handily took care of the Romanians, admittedly at the third time of asking this season.
Even in the moments that it could be suggested that Lennon’s men rode their luck against Lazio, it was our own players’ skill that bailed us out, most notably the wonder save from Fraser Forster.
We took our chances and found the spirit and determination to win the match.
Celtic would do well to take note of the attacker’s comments and used them as extra motivation ahead of Thursday night. It’s going to be a tough 90 minutes, but we have the capability to show Lazio with a fine performance that our recent victory was no freak result.
