Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart joined in with past and present Dundee United stars in flocking to Ben Siegrist’s Instagram after his official move to Parkhead.

Siegrist was confirmed as a Celtic player last night after his free transfer was announced by the club. It was yet more example of swift action in the transfer window from the Hoops as we bolstered our goalkeeping ranks with a hugely dependable option.

And he was certainly piled with congratulations by the likes of Hart and his former United teammates. Here’s a look at the reaction below:

Former United teammates of Siegrist’s such as Ian Harkes, Kerr Smith, and Dylan Levitt have all moved to wish him well. Jeando Fuchs also did the same on his Instagram story whilst Tony Watt was quick to react to Celtic’s Insta post late last night.

Hart, however, is perhaps the most pertinent of responses for the Celtic supporters here. He may only have posted an emoji, but it’s a sign of his leadership as he looks to immediately welcome the player to Glasgow.

Hart and Siegrist will be working extremely closely together next season and, hopefully, Ange decides on a bit more rotation for his shot-stoppers than he produced last term.

Ben Siegrist receives plenty of responses from old Tannadice teammates

Siegrist was absolutely adored at Tannadice by the Dundee United support during the course of his 4 years in Tayside. He was part of the United squad that bagged promotion from the Championship and ended his stint there by helping to secure European football.

He’ll feel he’s more than earned this step-up to Celtic Park. And he’ll know that it came about because of how much hard work and dedication he put into his time with the Tannadice club.

That he’s so admired and well thought of by so many of their current and former players speaks volumes. He was clearly a dependable figure for them, and that’s something we can only hope he brings with him to Celtic Park.

It’s also going to be interesting to see what Siegrist learns from Hart given the relationship he’ll look to strike up with the current number 1. Given how much he looks up to the experienced former England stopper, it’ll be a great chance for him to develop alongside Joe.

Celtic fans won’t have too long before they’ll be able to see the former Swiss under-21 international in action either. With pre-season kicking off next week, he’ll hopefully be involved from the get-go.

We wish Ben all the very best as he looks to make a big contribution this season.
