Joe Hart was a major figure during his three years at Celtic.

Signed by Ange Postecoglou, the Englishman developed a special relationship with the Parkhead faithful, as well as his Celtic teammates.

Hart’s presence on the pitch was clear for all to see, and since his retirement, so has his presence in the media.

Now, he has made his first steps in coaching, showing true class in doing so.

The club were without a goalkeeping coach, so Hart offered to help boss Gavin Cowan, with whom he is close friends.

The move isn’t expected to be permanent, but it certainly had the desired effect, with Shrewsbury claiming an unexpected 2-1 win at the play-off-chasing hosts.

Explaining the move after the game, Cowan said: “It’s nothing more simple than a mate trying to help mates out.

“I have spoken to Joe recently when I got appointed. Dave was in dialogue with him and we have been speaking about how just sometimes appointments take a bit of time.

“We were picking Joe’s brains on goalkeeper situations and it’s just a mate wanting to help mates.

“He offered to come down and be a part of what we are doing. It is just another confirmation of the class act that he is.

“He is a very humble guy and has stayed very grounded after having a lot of professional success over the years. Personally he is a fantastic guy.

“He’s not too far away – I know he is a busy guy – but it has still taken a lot to be here. But it was the first thing that he wanted to do – ‘can I offer my help and expertise?’

“He will be coming in to help us and really try to drive us towards three points.”

Was Ange Postecoglou disrespected in England?

Joe Hart and Ange Postecoglou’s first summer at Celtic

Looking back on Postecoglou’s first summer transfer window, it really was one of the best in the club’s history.

The early headline signing was Kyogo Furuhashi, who arrived from Vissel Kobe and blew us all away instantly.

Carl Starfelt and Liel Abada were also in the door early, before Hart and Josip Juranovic also strengthened the starting eleven.

And how about this for a deadline day trio: Jota, Giorgos Giakoumamakis and Cameron Carter-Vickers. Looking at how our business has been in seasons since, you don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
