Joe Hart was left blown away by the Celtic support yesterday
Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart was absolutely blown away by the support yesterday as he experienced a Hoops away support for the first time.
The experienced former England shot-stopper was perhaps the only player to leave the Tony Macaroni Arena yesterday with pass marks. Hart made a terrific save in either half to halt the scoreline from being even more embarrassing than the 1-0 loss we endured.
However, despite the performance from the players on the field, the display from supporters off it was something to behold. The Celtic supporters returned in their numbers and did their best to roar the team on.
And after filling three stands at the Tony Macaroni, Hart was left absolutely in awe of how they got behind the team.
As quoted by the Scottish Sun, the goalkeeper said: “It’s a tough one to take because we’re all trying to do something for this club. We had three-quarters of the stadium today for an away game — and I’ve never seen that before in my life.
“The support has shown up today and we didn’t quite bring what they brought to the table. It’s a great occasion to play in, and this is a huge club to play for.
“I don’t think the fans expect an apology. But we are one — I really feel that at this club. I feel that more than most, we represent them and they represent us.”
Joe Hart acknowledges the impact of the Celtic support
Credit to Hart for actually coming out and applauding the Celtic support. There weren’t many players who took the time to go over and thank them for their backing. You can’t help but feel some admiration for the ex-Man City man.
This will still all be something new for Hart. Yes we’s played for the likes of City, Torino, and Tottenham Hotspur. However, when it comes to away fan backing? You won’t find anything. down south that can match what Celtic offer.
It’s no surprise that he was left in awe of the fans yesterday. The support base he’s with now is the most passionate he’s experienced than at any stage throughout his career. And it’s fair to say they’re warming to him too.
Hart appears to be flourishing, at least individually. He may only have five clean sheets, but that’s more to do with the reckless defending in front of him. Had it not been for the Englishman, Celtic would’ve been in even more trouble this week.
He has a habit of saying the right things at the right time, that can’t be denied. You can see the leadership qualities bursting out of him after days like today. He knows how to steady the ship, and it shows.
Now, it’s time for the rest of the players to follow in Hart’s lead. Yesterday was a painful one, and they’ve now left themselves with no room for error.
