Joe Ledley has provided a brilliant insight into the passion of Scott Brown during his time at Celtic.
The two played together between 2010 and 2014, before Ledley signed for Crystal Palace.
Together, the duo managed two successive Premiership titles as well as two Scottish Cups. That’s just a small part of what Brown’s managed to achieve at Parkhead, but it was the total of Ledley’s trophy haul up north.
Ledley took part in an extensive interview with Open Goal yesterday. And, after revealing Brown to be the best captain he ever worked under, the Welshman opened up on the Celtic captain’s passion before derby matches against Rangers. Speaking to Open Goal (41:05), Ledley said the following:

“We do the huddle and Broony’s veins are popping out of his head. You’re like ‘what?’, you don’t know what he’s saying.
“He was the best captain I’ve ever had by far. The aura about him…..you miss him when he’s not there. It’s a horrible thing to say, but you need him in your team and around the place.
“He’s that Celtic man. You look at him and you think ‘he’s on it’. It’s like he changes character. When he’s with us he’s hilarious, but you walk out that tunnel and swoosh – different person.”
Will forever go down as a Celtic legend
Even the likes of Ledley who has played Premier League and Championship football still can’t find anyone who can lay a glove on Brown in terms of being a captain.
He continues to be the main man at Parkhead, and the spearhead for 10-in-a-row. Should he achieve it, it wouldn’t be surprising if he one day gets a statue at Celtic Park.

Ledley, of course, arrived at Celtic when Brown had only been there for three years. The former Hibernian man had struggled under previous manager Tony Mowbray, and Ledley’s arrival was part of a sign of the new Neil Lennon era.
The pair went on to enjoy a successful midfield partnership, but Lennon was quick to rotate in that area too. The likes of Victor Wanyama and Beram Kayal had their places in the engine room during that period.
But more praise coming Brown’s way won’t be a big surprise to the Celtic fans. He’s a massive character and continues to be one of Celtic’s most successful captains of all time.
Will he mark it with a treble-treble this season? Don’t be surprised if he does.
