Johan Mjallby felt Celtic were lucky to take a point from this evening’s Champions League tie against Club Brugge.

The big Swede was on punditry duties for TNT Sports inside Parkhead and was left impressed by the Belgian outfit who could have won all three points on another night.

Cameron Carter-Vickers’ own goal was a calamitous moment before Daizen Maeda’s stunner levelled proceedings.

But while the Hoops pushed for a late winner, their opponents were unfortunate with a disallowed goal as well as finding Kasper Schmeichel in fine form.

Mjallby was convinced that, had Brugge taken their chances, they might have left his old club in the dust.

And he explained the only real disappointment he took from the evening’s clash with Celts putting in a weaker performance than their most recent outings in the competition.

“I’m happy with the point because tactically Brugge were really good,” Mjallby said when dissecting the action at full-time.

Johan Mjallby says Celtic did not create enough at home to win the game

“They are lacking a goal scorer otherwise Celtic could have left here with no points.

“The only disappointment for me from Celtic’s performance was they didn’t create enough. They’re playing at home and had to create more than they did especially because they’re an attack minded side.

“All in all you take the point and go onto the next one.”

Celtic now sit 20th in the Champions League standings with two wins and two draws from their five outings.

They remain fighting it out among the clubs for the playoff knockout round with sides ninth all the way through to 24th set to square off in a bid to make the next rounds.

None of Brendan Rodgers’ big hitters were at their usual best in Glasgow this evening.

Nicolas Kuhn struggled to get going while Daizen Maeda looked out of sorts before hitting his wonder-strike to seal a point.
