At Celtic, we are blessed with a multitude of talented players. Jota, Reo Hatate, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Kyogo. They have all played a huge part in Celtic’s success over the last two seasons.
But none more so than Callum McGregor. The Celtic captain took over the captaincy from Scott Brown and has certainly put his own stamp on how he leads this Celtic side.
And former Celtic star John Hartson paid a glowing tribute to the captain and said McGregor is a ‘wonderful technician’.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Hartson said, “He is a one-club man isn’t he? He’s one of Celtic’s own. He came through the academy, came through the system.
“The fans love that, when they get a young player that breaks through. He’s become a legend. He drives the team on. He’s the go-to man.
“When there’s a little bit of a lull in play if you like or Celtic have given the ball away, Callum will start pointing the finger and he’ll almost say look, give me the ball. I want the ball.
“He’s got the ability to play wide. He joins in and he goes beyond the front when he wants to in terms of trying to get himself into the opposite penalty area and score goals.
“He is basically just a wonderful technician of the ball that’s what he is. He is a brilliant footballer.”
McGregor has been an excellent Celtic captain
McGregor has certainly come of age since becoming the captain of Celtic. Which is a strange thing to say as he took over the mantle from Broony at 27 years old. But it seems that he has kicked up a notch since being given that responsibility.

The amount of work he has put in to ensure that the club remained successful during one of the biggest rebuilds in our modern history cannot be underestimated.
His influence on the team is clear. He leads by example and demands the highest standards from our players.
Callum is now one of the most decorated players in the club’s history. He has the opportunity to be the first player in football ever to win five domestic trebles. Legend doesn’t even begin to describe the Celtic captain.
