John Hartson comes to the defence of Neil Lennon

John Hartson has backed Neil Lennon to become the next permanent manager of Celtic and defended his record as interim manager.

Lennon has yet to lose a game as Hoops interim boss, but the style of play has often left a lot to be desired. The Hoops have only managed to score 10 goals in Lennon’s 10 games as boss.

Despite this, former Celtic striker Hartson has come to the defence of his one time team-mate.

“Done everything asked of him”

“Some may be moaning about the quality of the games at the minute, they’ve drawn a couple, but the football hasn’t been brilliant all season, even under the previous manager, but we’re on the cusp of a historical treble treble.”

Broadly correct about results

Hartson is broadly correct about the results. One more point in the league will guarantee an eighth league title in a row for the club. Whilst the Scottish Cup is in reach, as the Hoops take on Hearts in next month’s final.

The performances under Brendan Rodgers were poor at times, as Hartson indicates. But they were still better than most of the performances that Lennon has been in charge for.

The decision about the Hoops’ next manager will have to be made sooner rather than later. There is no doubt as to who John Hartson is backing.
