Some recent comments by former Celtic striker John Hartson have only added to the uncertainty surrounding the managerial position at Celtic Park.

Neil Lennon is interim manager until the end of the season, but what is happening next season is not yet known.

Hartson has disclosed that there are ‘four or five’ candidates who are being considered for the permanent Celtic job. However, he has refused to name them, which is the right thing to do.

“I would like Neil to continue as manager but there are candidates out there” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.

“There’s four or five but I won’t say who they are. I know they would come to Celtic and do a great job, though.”

The fact that names are ‘candidates’ for the Celtic job perhaps shows that the people in charge at the club have not yet decided who the next manager will be.

Interim manager has done well

Neil Lennon has done a good job in keeping the Hoops on track for a domestic treble. At times though, the football hasn’t been great.

Perhaps some at Celtic want Lennon to get the job, whilst others who make the decisions favour another manager.

As yet, nobody knows. All at Celtic have been keeping very quiet about the managerial situation. It is all a bit confusing for the support. Hopefully an announcement is made about the next manager sooner rather than later.
