Celtic legend John Hartson feels that Odsonne Edouard can do better this season. This is despite the fact that the striker scored the winning goal against Dundee on Sunday.
Edouard now has 18 goals for the season. But Hartson feels that the player can still improve.
“He has pace, he has strength, he can score, he does have all the tools to really be a first-class striker” he told the Evening Times.
“There is an element of frustration to watching him sometimes because you just feel that if he tidied up one or two aspects of his game then he would be a really serious player for Celtic.”
A bit harsh
Hartson is perhaps being a bit harsh on the player. Edouard has done well this season, and has chipped in with some vital goals.
Perhaps he doesn’t impose himself on games enough. But that is understandable, as he could be concerned about suffering another injury.
Struggled with injuries
Edouard has struggled with injury issues this season, which has prevented him from scoring more goals. Still, he is on course for more than 20 goals this season.
That is a good return, and next season he can look to improve on that. So far, Edouard has shown that he is a more than capable replacement for Moussa Dembele. That is all that can be asked for in his first season with the Hoops.
