Former Celtic striker John Hartson has delivered his verdict on the transfer window business done by the Hoops so far in the January window.

He is pleased that the Hoops signed striker Patryk Klimala, but he wants there to be more players brought in before the window closes on the 31st of January.

“Need a couple more”

“Klimala is unknown. He looks quick but I’d be lying if I said he’s fantastic, it’s a great opportunity for him but I still feel they need a couple more” Hartson said, whilst appearing on BBC Sportsound.

Hartson’s views will be agreed with by the majority of the Celtic support, you would imagine. The signing of Klimala is a welcome one. There is no doubt that Celtic needed another striker.

However, that should not mean that the Hoops are finished signing players in the January transfer window.

As Hartson has identified, Celtic still need to make a few more signings, before the window closes and the Hoops aim to make it nine in a row.

It is up to Neil Lennon and the Celtic board to make sure that the Hoops get the signings done before the January window closes.

Senior figure will be extremely busy

Director of football operations Nick Hammond will be working flat out in the next few weeks to try to ensure that Celtic make the moves that could all but ensure that the Hoops win the title.

With the title race so close, every move that the Hoops make in January will be important. Celtic have to avoid some mistakes of previous January windows, in the signings that they make in the current window.

No more loan deals for six months, instead sign players that will be at the club for many years to come. If Celtic can do that, then the January transfer window could be a very productive one for the club.
