John Hartson reacts as Celtic’s Premiership lead narrows to 13 points

Celtic great John Hartson has reacted to Rangers’ 1-0 victory at Ross County this afternoon with a cheeky dig.

The result narrowed Celtic’s lead at the top of the Premiership to 13 points. However, at the same time, Rangers looked woeful against a struggling County side who they only managed to narrowly escape with a victory against.

It continued the feel-good factor for the Hoops heading into next weekend’s Glasgow derby at Ibrox. Should Celtic manage to pick up the three points in that one, Rangers will be back to 16 points behind once again.

And Hartson reacted to their result today on Twitter as he sarcastically stated that the result was a nightmare for the Hoops:

No excuses next week

Every Celtic fan will be echoing Hartson’s sarcasm. Their win today will likely be blown out of proportion given their woeful form. As is the norm, it’ll get made to be bigger than it actually is, but it’s great for us to see how fragile they look.

Their performance today once again suggests that there are no excuses next week, if there wasn’t already. Rangers are all over the place, and really should’ve been 2-0 down before they scored today.

Both Billy McKay and Ross Stewart missed glorious opportunities at the start of the second half. If those chances are falling to the likes of Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie, it’s certainly an exciting thought.

There’s also the aspect of them playing in Europe on Thursday night. Rangers will host Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League less than 72 hours before Celtic arrive at Ibrox next Sunday. If there is any tiredness in the Rangers ranks, and there more than likely will be, we have to exploit it.

The fact we’re 13 clear does take a bit of the pressure off with regards to having to win the game. However, the last thing we need is for them to take the points and give themselves a chance to close it to seven points should they win their game in-hand.

Fortunately, they don’t look capable of seeing off any side with a bit of half-decent quality. Here’s hoping that continues over the next week.
