Former Celtic striker John Hartson doesn’t believe that the Hoops fans will forgive Brendan Rodgers for leaving the club any time soon.

Rodgers claimed this week that he still supports the Hoops despite his departure to Leicester City earlier this year.

However, Hartson doesn’t believe that will cut any ice with Celtic fans still upset with Rodgers’ exit.

“I meet fans all the time, and they are still very angry and very disappointed over the way Brendan Rodgers left the club” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.

“A long time”

“In my view, it will take the Celtic fans a long time to get over it. If they ever get over it.”

It is fair to say that fans have still to get over Rodgers’ exit.

The timing of the exit really hurt the Celtic support.

A fan who loves the club, as Rodgers says he does, would not leave in the middle of a title race.

Credit has to be given to interim manager Neil Lennon for making sure that the Hoops managed to stay on course and win the league title.

Perhaps in time Celtic fans will come to terms with Rodgers’ departure. As Hartson says though, it could take a long time for that to happen.

One day Brendan Rodgers will be welcomed at Celtic Park again. When that day will be, who can tell.
