Jonny Hayes will be fit to face Celtic at Hampden next weekend, and could even make Sunday’s clash at Pittodrie.

Hayes’ Aberdeen side face the Hoops over the next couple of weekends on both league and Scottish Cup duty.

The former Neil Lennon favourite went off after 32 minutes of his side’s win over Hamilton in midweek, and it seemed like he was certain to miss the double-header against his old side.

But, as Derek McInnes updated press on Friday, it now appears Hayes could even play this weekend.

“Jonny had an issue with his groin,” McInnes said, as reported by FourFourTwo.

“We were hoping it wasn’t a tear and thankfully it’s not anything significant.

“So he will be fit for the Scottish Cup semi-final next week and still has a chance of being ready for this one.

“We’ll see how he is tomorrow. He’ll have to feel a lot better than he does today but he’s certainly not ruled out.”

Hayes is one of a number of talented Aberdeen players

Hayes had been an ever-present for the Dons up until the 32nd minute of the 4-2 win over Accies.

The Irishman played the entirety of each of his side’s 12 prior games – of which Aberdeen won eight.

They are going to be no push-overs at Pittodrie in a match that we simply have to win.

For all the chat about Rangers, the Dons could move onto level points with us if they beat us. That simply can’t be allowed to happen.

Derek McInnes’ men have a few familiar faces. Joining Hayes are Niall McGinn and Dylan McGeouch.

Along with the likes of Lewis Ferguson, Ryan Edmondson and the returning Sam Cosgrove, they are more than a match for anyone on their day.

It’s one you can’t afford to miss.
