Jordan Henderson, John Terry & more respond as new Celtic Bhoy Joe Hart posts on Instagram
New Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart has left a fond farewell to his teammates and supporters at Tottenham Hotspur on Instagram.
The new Bhoys ‘keeper, who joined the club earlier today, has earned plaudits on his way out. The likes of Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, Spurs midfielder Dele Alli, Celtic favourite Stiliyan Petrov and more have responded to Hart’s post.
The former England stopper, who has 75 caps, won the Premier League Golden Gloves award four times.
Some of his former club and international teammates were quick to respond. And it reads like a who’s who of English football.
Former England captain John Terry, ex-Spurs, Celtic and Liverpool striker Robbie Keane, and Champions League winning captain Jordan Henderson were all quick to send their best.
Equally, some former teammates including Erik Lamela, who joined Sevilla last week [BBC], Ryan Sessegnon and Eric Dier all joined in the chorus.
Hart, who joined the Bhoys for £1m [Daily Mail], arrives at an important time. The former Manchester City ‘keeper will fill the number 1 shirt at a time of considerable uncertainty between the sticks at Celtic.
Vasilis Barkas and Scott Bain have both struggled to impress. While there have been doubts about Hart’s fit in a system like Postecoglou’s, it’s obvious the manager has run the rule over this move, and likes what he sees in Hart.
Joe Hart and his Instagram following will have people watching on Thursday. He’s travelled with the squad to play against FK Jablonec, and could well make his debut.
In April, Jose Mourinho claimed Hart was the “best English goalkeeper”.
Celtic star Joe Hart attracts big names to his Instagram page
Obviously, what Joe Hart has achieved in his career thus far is mightily impressive.
Twice an English Premier League champion, Hart also has an FA Cup Winners’ medal, and two from the League Cup. Add that to 75 caps, and it’s clear this is a goalkeeper with pedigree.
He’ll now be looking for guaranteed game time. Given the circumstances Celtic find themselves in, that’s Joe Hart’s to lose.
With the endorsement of Jordan Henderson, John Terry and more from his Premier League exploits, the 34-year-old knows there’ll be an opportunity to put his career back on track.
Spells with Torino, West Ham and Burnley offered mixed outcomes, while he was solid in brief appearances with Tottenham Hotspur.
He’ll surely get his first chance on Thursday night, with Celtic looking to secure Europa League qualification.
