Jordon Ibe plays down Celtic rumours
Reported Celtic target Jordon Ibe has played down talk that he’s going to move to the club this summer.
The Bournemouth winger was linked with a loan move to Glasgow last week, with the Scottish Sun reporting that Neil Lennon was keen to add him to bolster his attacking options.
Chat seemed to die down after Cherries boss Eddie Howe said he wanted to keep Ibe around. However, the rumours have started again this week with Celtic apparently not giving up on their man.
And now Ibe, who cost Bournemouth £15million in 2016, has had his say on the reported interest from Celtic. He kept it short and sweet but seemed to play down chat that he was set to move north of the border.
“That Celtic thing, I don’t know about that,” he told the Mirror. “Any speculation stuff I don’t get involved with.”
Are there legs to the Ibe to Celtic discussion?
It seems as though the papers are flogging a dead horse with this one.
Eddie Howe has already said publicly that he wouldn’t fancy losing Ibe. The player himself has now said that he hasn’t heard anything about the rumours so what legs are there to the story?
Celtic could do with a left-winger and a forward. Although Ibe can play in both areas, his main position is on the right. We’re well covered in that position with James Forrest and Marian Shved likely to spread the workforce this season. So why would we move for Ibe?
The winger clearly has decent potential and was well thought of during his time at Liverpool. But questions remain over whether he could offer us something we don’t already have.
