Celtic winger Jota is relishing the challenge of the club’s heavy match schedule, which is something he’s never experienced before.

The 22-year-old has had match experience for Benfica B, their senior side and La Liga outfit Real Valladolid.

However, he’s never played mid-week to weekend football at such intensity before now. Far from being a burden, he is absolutely loving it and reckons it’s helping him thrive.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said: “Playing twice a week is something new for me. I have never done this before, it is my first time.

“For sure, it is an amazing feeling because you don’t get time to think about the bad things. You have to go to the next game with the best mentality and just to recover.

“We have to be mentally ready, both collectively and individually, for every challenge. There is a big responsibility for this club. We have to win every game and win every challenge.”

He really does sound delighted with life at Celtic. If he continues to perform well then there’s a great chance we could land him on a permanent basis from our option-to-buy clause in his loan.

From the fans, to Ange Postecoglou, to the schedule – there is only positivity coming from the young attacker right now and long may it continue.

With two goals and two assists to his name already, he could rack up exciting totals in both categories across the course of the season.

I can’t wait to see him kick on after this international break.
