Journalist confident Andraz Sporar would be a success at Celtic
It seems that Celtic are very keen to sign Slovan Bratislava striker Andraz Sporar in the January transfer window. The Daily Record recently reported that the Hoops had already had talks with Slovan about the player, with more set to take place.
Celtic are in need of a striker to compliment Odsonne Edouard, and hopefully Sporar is that player. The Evening Times recently spoke to Slovakian journalist Lukáŝ Vráblik about the striker, and he is confident that the player will be a success in Scotland.
“A really good all-round player”
“He is good at pressing, he can hold the ball up well, and he is good in the air. He is physical and can combine well with others, so he’s a really good all-round player.”
Interestingly, the player has played as a lone striker for his current club, according to Vráblik.
“Slovan play the same formation that Celtic play, so he should fit in well” the journalist concluded.
Going by Vráblik’s comments, it seems that the player is similar to Odsonne Edouard. Perhaps he will be the Frenchman’s replacement in the future?
At any rate, if Sporar is suited to playing as a lone striker it seems unlikely that Celtic will change their style of play should he join the club.
Striker could have helped in recent defeat
Celtic do need to sign another striker, the recent loss to Rangers showed that. If Sporar had been available off the bench for example, the Hoops might well have managed to win the game, never mind salvage a draw.
With Celtic heading to Dubai soon, it would be a bonus for the Hoops to get any deal done for Sporar as soon as they can.
The player certainly seems to have plenty of potential, and the fact that he has scored 20 goals in 26 games this season is a promising sign.
Sporar seems like he could be a good signing for the Hoops, only time will tell if the deal gets done soon.
