Jozo Simunovic injury could lead to a Christopher Jullien start for Celtic

One of the most intriguing aspects of Celtic’s game against Dunfermline in the Betfred Cup is the team that will be selected by Neil Lennon.

It seems likely that changes will be made from the side which lost in that dramatic match against Cluj. Indeed, Lennon confirmed as much on the Celtic Twitter account.

The Hoops boss then revealed that centre-back Jozo Simunovic is only ’50/50′ to make the game.

Anybody who is an injury doubt should not be risked for the game. Therefore, this seems like the ideal fixture to give Christopher Jullien some game time.

The £7 million signing from Toulouse was left out of the 4-3 loss to Cluj. Could he have made a difference in the game? We will never know.

However, if he is to be a first-team regular for the Hoops he needs more game time. A game against Dunfermline seems to be made for Jullien. He can hopefully stroll through it and get some confidence from helping the side keep a clean sheet.

Needs a run of games

If Jullien does well in the game, perhaps he will keep his place in the side against AIK on Thursday. However, Lennon may decide to bring Simunovic back should he recover in time.

It is hard to judge Jullien’s Celtic career so far. He has not had a run of games in the side. Arguably it is about time that he did, starting against Dunfermline.
