Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has shared that Jurgen Klinsmann was left impressed by striker Hyeongyu Oh after his recent international duty, with the German due in Scotland this weekend to watch the Bhoys in action.
Oh featured in Klinsmann’s camp for friendlies against South American opposition and netted an impressive finish in the match against Uruguay, before it was ruled out for offside.
Postecoglou was full of praise for the World Cup winner this weekend when discussing the South Korea manager’s trip to Rugby Park this lunchtime.

He said [Scottish Daily Mail, 15/04 print edition page 117]: “Jurgen was an outstanding player and he really made an impact wherever he played. He is one of those guys who played in most of the big leagues, Germany, Italy and England – and made a massive impact. He’s had some pretty big jobs as a manager as well so he’s one of the big figures in world football.
“I had an exchange with Jurgen after the recent international camp and he was really happy with Oh. He mentioned he was keen to come over and watch him and that the Kilmarnock game would fit in. Hopefully, he enjoys the game and I’m sure Oh will get the chance to impress.”
Oh will likely be restricted to a substitute appearance again, with Kyogo Furuhashi in imperious scoring form. However, the Korean forward could well get a decent half an hour in Ayrshire, which will give Klinsmann a real chance to see how he functions in this Celtic set-up.
The 22-year-old has looked impressive in the fleeting glimpses we’ve had since his arrival in Scotland – which has consisted of just one start and 11 substitute appearances. He’s scored three goals along the way, as well as showing off some neat link-up play and strong physicality.
We’ll see the best of the prospect next season but everyone is looking forward to watching him in the final seven games of this campaign.
