Karamoko Dembele has hand-picked fellow Lennoxtown team-mate Armstrong Oko-Flex as his favourite fellow talent at the club.
Both youngsters have big futures at Parkhead after impressing with the youth and reserve squads in recent years. Dembele, for example, has already made two appearances for the club.
Oko-Flex has yet to be given his first senior outing. However, he has been a regular with the reserve side during their challenge matches this season. He was also a standout in last season’s Reserve League campaign, where he young attacker was often amongst the goals.
Dembele took to Instagram to do a Q&A with supporters, and when asked who his favourite team-mate was, he was certain of who to select.
Could Oko-Flex be next in line for a call?
Surely, at this stage, Oko-Flex can’t be far from getting that call-up for some game-time. He was given the chance to mix in with the first-team squad in a trip to Rugby Park last season. However, he ended the game as an unused substitute.
It was the same against Hearts on trophy day. He got involved with the post-match celebrations after being given a spot on the bench. Dembele made his debut that day, but there was no similar outing for Armstrong.
This season, Neil Lennon has shown real faith in youngsters and has given several their big opportunities to shine. Scott Robertson made his debut in Cluj and looked tidy in the midfield. Lenny then gave Stephen Welsh some game-time against Hamilton in Lanarkshire, with the youngster being our best-performing centre-back on the day.
Oko-Flex will be absolutely itching to join the debut club. Considering he’s been having experiences in matchday squads, he can’t be far away.
He’ll be one of the players surely desperate to be allowed the chance to finish the campaign. His best chance of getting an opportunity to shine would be once the league has been won.
Hopefully, we get the opportunity to do that at some point down the line.
