Celtic teenager Karamoko Dembele has shared his delight with reaching the final of the SPFL Reserve Cup this season, speaking to The Celtic View (04/03 print edition, page 40).

Dembele produced a man-of-the-match performance against Hibernian in the semi-final last week, scoring a double, one of which crashed stylishly in off the underside of the bar.

The final is coming up against Aberdeen later this month and the 17-year-old is determined to do everything in his power to lift the silverware.

As quoted by The Celtic View (04/03 print edition, page 40), he said: “It’ll be good to go out there, work as hard as we can and do whatever we can to get the win in the final.

“We’d have taken progress to the final by any means necessary, a last-minute winner if that’s what is required, but to win 4-1 is a pretty comprehensive victory.

“Doing that does us proud, and it lets other teams know that we’re up there and that we’re very strong as a team, and that we’re a team to be feared.”

Dembele still hasn’t quite made a major breakthrough in Neil Lennon’s first-team but with his impressive performances continuing and the player clearly having an outstanding attitude as evidenced by his comments, surely it won’t be long until he’s a regular.

To date he’s made three substitute appearances for the Bhoys, two of which have come this season against Cluj and Ross County.

That match against the Staggies, on 25th January, was the last time he was named in a matchday squad.

Hype has followed the teenager for years, ever since he made his debut for our then U20s side as a 13-year-old.

His ability hasn’t appeared to decline in any way, if anything he’s growing stronger and more physically robust.

Hopefully this is the season he finally makes his first start in a Celtic jersey, setting him up for a big 2020/21 campaign at the Hoops.
