Kasper Schmeichel has been an excellent signing for Celtic.

In his maiden season at Celtic, the big Danish goalkeeper has conceded just 17 goals this season as the Bhoys sit 16 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Schmeichel has also been responsible for some of Celtic’s great results in the Champions League and in the 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, the 39-year-old put in a superb performance as he helped Brendan Rodgers create history in Germany.

However, despite that, there is a victory that sticks in the Celtic goalkeeper’s mind that Schmeichel says really ‘annoyed’ him this season despite the emphatic winning scoreline.

Why Celtic’s battering of Aberdeen annoyed Kasper Schmeichel.

Celtic’s 5-1 win over Aberdeen took Brendan Rodgers 16 points ahead in the race to retain the title. However, what really sticks in Schmeichel’s head is the late Shayden Morris goal and here, the verteran goalkeeper explains to Jamie Carragher why.

Schmeichel told Stick To Football [5m 30s], “That’s the thing with with clean sheets, I think is it’s a bit of like of a vanity stat, because we’re 4-0 up at the time, we are pretty comfortable within the game, and then they go and get a goal, and we go straight down the score again.

“It’s a mentality. And to be fair, we’ve been brilliant at it this season. When we have had games where we have been comfortable, we have been quite ruthless.

“I think it’s more of a ruthless mentality that you’re saying, like we are not going to be beaten.

“I was annoyed, and also because I didn’t actually know this at the time, but I was told afterwards, that would have been the first time in Celtic’s history that a team had kept 10 clean sheets [in a row]. We’ve only conceded two at home all season, and that was against Aberdeen back in October.

“So this was the first time we conceded since October.”

Kasper Schmeichel’s Celtic stats

Schmeichel has played in all but one of Celtic’s games this season so far. The only game he’s missed out out was in the Hoops’ 5-0 win over Raith Rovers.

Other than that, Schmeichel has pulled on the Celtic jersey 44 times this season so here, 67 Hail Hail takes a look at how the Parkhead stopper has got on in all competitions.
