“Keeps on giving”; Gordon Strachan trolls Celtic rivals with class Scott Brown remark

Former Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has trolled Rangers by stating that Scott Brown may have already played a key part in securing the title for his former club.

Strachan was the man who brought Brown to Parkhead back in the summer of 2007 for £4.4m [BBC]. The deal was and continues to be a record between 2 Scottish clubs.

Brown is now a free agent after leaving Aberdeen after the departure of Stephen Glass. There is talk of him potentially returning to Parkhead after a report in the Scottish Sun last night claimed the Hoops would be open to creating a pathway for him if he wanted it.

Undoubtedly he leaves Pittodrie with his greatest moment being a superb diving header at Ibrox in a 2-2 draw back in October. And Strachan has goaded our rivals by stating that this particular goal may prove pivotal in the title-race.

As quoted by the Daily Record, Gordon said: “It will be interesting to see what Scott does from here but if you look back at his career there were some great goals, great passes, great tackles. Even this season at Aberdeen he scored that diving header at Ibrox against Rangers. So he’s still helping even now by taking two points off Rangers!

“Can you just imagine if Celtic end up winning this title by just one point? He’s the guy who keeps on giving”.

Gordon Strachan hits Rangers where it hurts with Scott Brown trolling

The funniest part about this is that it’s true. On the same night as Brown buried a diving header in Govan, we were strolling to a 3-1 success over Hibernian at Easter Road. Both results led to Celtic coming to within a point of our rivals at the top as we closed in on them.

It was just a shame that particular goal didn’t end up being a winner. After all, it was only thanks to a dodgy refereeing decision from John Beaton that Rangers managed to sneak out with a 2-2 draw. In reality, Aberdeen should’ve won the game and given Celtic and even greater helping hand.

But let’s face it, it’s not just in this match that Brown has played his part against our rivals. He was also pivotal in a 1-1 stalemate at Pittodrie back in January.

Even when he’s not been at Celtic, he’s been living in Rangers supporters’ minds rent-free. He’s still been playing a key impact, and it’s no doubt totally wound rival supporters up that he didn’t manage to take anything off of Celtic either.

We’ll see what happens in the closing weeks of the season. However, the truth is we’re in fine form and looking very much the title favourites at this stage, even if it’s extremely close to call at the moment.

And if we do win it by a point or 2? Well let’s just say Broony will be feeling pretty good about himself.
