Celtic’s defeat to Rangers has generated plenty of headlines over the last two weeks.
The headlines, however, have not been favourable to Celtic as many people now question just how big the gap is between both clubs.
As every Hoops fan knows, the gap between Celtic and Rangers is still huge. Despite their last two Glasgow Derby wins, the Ibrox club will still finish the season trophyless as Brendan Rodgers chases down another treble.
The Celtic manager will be itching to face Hearts and put right the Rangers result as will many of his first-team players.
Luke McCowan was one of Celtic’s starting XI on that day and the Kelty Hearts assistant manager Mark Kerr has admitted to defending him after hearing what he was told about the former Dundee captain after the defeat to Rangers.

Luke McCowan’s Celtic critics sent a strong message after Rangers defeat
McCowan stepped in after Celtic captain Callum McGregor’s injury forced him out of the big derby clash and Kerr has shared how he slapped down his critics as he labelled the Hoops midfielder a ‘brilliant signing for Brendan Rodgers‘.
Kerr told the Daily Mirror [print edition page 53]: “He’s probably played a bigger role than some expected but he’s never looked out of place.
“I got a few messages after the game against Rangers saying he might have been out of his depth, but I told them they don’t know what they are talking about.
“It wasn’t a great day for Celtic but he was the one who always demanded the ball and tried to make things happen.
“He’s been a brilliant signing for Brendan Rodgers.”

A £1m summer transfer deadline day signing from Dundee, McCowan has made a great impact at Celtic in his first season in Paradise.
No one expected the former Dundee man to make an immediate first-team impact but McCowan has done that and more ever since he made his Celtic debut against Rangers back in September.
