Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish reckons the Bhoys have the riches to go out and spend significantly in the summer transfer window to improve Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

The Bhoys are back-to-back title winners and on the verge of just the eighth treble in the club’s history, but there is always room for improvement in Postecoglou’s team, especially when reviewing its quality in a European context.

The Celtic boss isn’t one to simply be content with the status quo and Dalglish believes he’ll be putting another round of guaranteed UEFA Champions League cash to good use.

Celtic expected to spend in summer transfer window

Speaking to The Sunday Post [21/05 print edition], the Bhoys icon said: “He will know that Rangers will improve next season and he will not be standing still. He will want better players to come in during the summer. Celtic will not rest on their laurels.

“I’m sure there’ll be a healthy transfer kitty for Ange to use if it’s required. With Champions League riches assured for the new season, the Parkhead club can afford to recruit well. But finding the right types of players is never easy. There are no guarantees, regardless of what you have to spend.

“That’s why Ange’s knowledge of Japan and South Korea has been invaluable. He has signed players for bargain prices there.”

This summer, in comparison to last, there are no big money fees attached to on-loan players. Celtic spent big money on Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota in 2022 after their initial spells at the Bhoys.

That means there’ll be a large amount of cash available to pursue fresh targets this time around and recruit real quality in two or three positions. And that’s before we even consider selling any of our big squad assets.

It could be a very exciting summer for the support as the manager looks to build on what is already a very successful squad.
