Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish thinks manager Neil Lennon will again opt to use both Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths for today’s match away to Hamilton, writing in his Sunday Post column (02/02 print edition, Match supplement page 11).
Griffiths had a difficult 2019 on and off the pitch but since the return from our recent winter break has shown that he could be getting back to the kind of form that made him a very popular player with supporters.
He’s scored three goals in our last four matches and seems to have found a way into the team that complements Edouard rather than replaces him.
Striking legend Dalglish has been impressed with his resurgence and not only thinks he’ll play a part today but that he could have a big say in our trophy chase over the next few months.
As quoted by The Sunday Post (02/02 print edition, Match supplement page 11), he said: “Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Grifftihs will most likely lead the attack today and they will be hungry for more goals and three points.
“I said on this page last month that Leigh had the ability, but just had to find a way to catch the manager’s eye again and get himself a run in the team.
“Well, he has managed to do so and chipped in with a few goals. His finish at Perth in midweek was of a very high standard.
“Now he just needs to maintain a level of consistency, and he will have a key role to play in the pursuit of silverware between now and May.”

Massive day for Celtic
After Rangers dropped points for the second weekend in a row yesterday, at home to Aberdeen, Celtic now have a huge opportunity to move seven points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Dalglish is expecting Griffiths and Edouard but whichever team Lennon goes for has to deliver in a big way, much like our first-half performance away to St Johnstone on Wednesday night.
There can simply be no excuses regardless of personnel on the pitch.

Dalglish is right to pick out Griffiths for praise. Despite fierce criticism and a media glare, the Scotland international has stuck to his task, clearly worked hard in training and is now reaping the rewards.
His goal in Perth mid-week was the clinical striker of old and if he can continue providing that kind of threat in the final third then there’s no doubt that Lennon will keep using him.
