Kenny Dalglish has highlighted the potential mouth-watering finale to Scott Brown’s Celtic career that could still happen.

Celtic fans have been left gutted that Brown never managed to secure the 10 this season. It would’ve been a fitting send-off for one of the club’s most iconic captains.

However, there is still a chance to make Brown’s last game a celebratory one. With Broony completing a move to Aberdeen at the end of the season, there’s a real thirst for his 14-year Celtic stint to end on a high note.

The Scottish Cup gives us that chance. And funnily enough, he could still meet his new club in the competition. Dalglish couldn’t help but talk that one up as he touched on Brown’s departure.

As quoted by the Sunday Post, Dalglish said: “Aberdeen will be hoping this brave new era works out for them.

The club had very good success under Derek McInnes. But now new chairman, Dave Cormack, has gone for something different. It’s very bold but also very exciting.

“This is the final few weeks for Scott at Celtic and he’ll want to go out on a high. He would love to end his time at Parkhead with the Scottish Cup on May 22. That would be a fitting send off to lift it for the fifth season on the trot.

“It would make for a box-office event if the Final was between Celtic and Aberdeen. That would be quite something for a variety of reasons.”

Kenny Dalglish right about Scottish Cup prospect; but any Celtic vs Aberdeen fixture now holds intrigue

Picture the moment. Hampden. 90th minute. Celtic 1-1 Aberdeen. A corner is swung in from the right and nodded home by Brown. Euphoric scenes as Celtic secure their fifth consecutive Scottish Cup. Aberdeen’s new assistant manager extends their 31-year Scottish Cup hoodoo to 32.

It’s the ending perfect for a Hollywood twist. And the incredible thing is that it’s still a huge possibility. Especially with both sides favourites to reach the latter stages.

It doesn’t even need to be in the final either. Any Celtic vs Aberdeen clash is going to hold intrigue of the highest form. That doesn’t matter if it’s in the Scottish Cup or indeed the Scottish Premiership.

As for that league trip to Pittodrie, it will be interesting to see if Brown even features. Perhaps John Kennedy wouldn’t like the situation that would put Brown in.Granted, that’s perhaps more of a factor in any potential Scottish Cup semi-final or final.

Even so, Celtic need to put out the team that gives them the best chance of winning. Brown, regardless of what you think of him as a player this season, is always going to be in that discussion.

Any fixture against Aberdeen between now and the summer is going to be interesting. But a Scottish Cup final would certainly top any other script Brown’s Celtic career could’ve had.
