Kenny Miller values Celtic star Liel Abada; issues strange Rangers warning

When the news broke that Ajax were potentially looking at Celtic winger, Liel Abada, I think it caught most of us off guard.

With attention fully focused on wrapping up a possible treble, transfer talk was probably the furthest from all our minds.

But as it is, the story took off and now fans will be thinking if he does go this summer, what kind of transfer fee could he command?

Kenny Miller was asked on The Go Radio Football Show what Celtic would expect to get for the Israeli international when he said, “I’m not sure, but maybe we are talking £10m for him?

“If you are talking Ajax, then you are probably looking at those types of numbers – £8m or £10m.

“I think he is really unfortunate that he has not had more game time.

“He’s found himself behind Jota and Maeda. I think he has been brilliant.

“He brings something different to that position.

“That is what Ange has got in those wide areas. They all bring something.

“Jota with the flare and technique. Real easy on the eye.

“Maeda who is pure power and pace and how he presses.

“You’ve got Haksabanovic who has that wee dip of the shoulder and we have seen his bend on the shot.

“But Abada is direct and pacey and a real goal threat. We have seen in the big, big games against Rangers where he has popped up with a right few goals.

“They have got so many threats Celtic.

“Maybe it is the time to move him on and make the most of it and not allow him to get into a Ryan Kent or an Alfredo Morelos situation, where you could be losing massive players for no money.

“And players you spent a good bit of money on as well.”

In a way, I can understand the reasoning why Miller thinks Celtic should sell Abada.

The players he mentioned just show the multitude of talent we have at our disposal and with Rocco Vata now making the breakthrough, we are not exactly short on numbers in that attacking area.

But I did find it strange that he compared this transfer situation to what is going on at Rangers with Morelos and Kent.

First off, Abada is under contract till 2026. The chances of Celtic allowing themselves to get into a scenario where we would allow his run down is minimal.

Our player trading model dictates that we would not allow ourselves to be put in that position. Nor would our manager.
