In a few weeks time Scotland return to action to take on Russia and Belgium. The squad selected by manager Steve Clarke was announced a short time ago, and three Celtic players are selected.
The trio are Ryan Christie, Callum McGregor and James Forrest.
Interestingly, there is no place in the squad for Leigh Griffiths, who has been in decent form for Scotland since returning to the first-team this season.
The absence of Craig Gordon is to be expected, as he has only just returned to the Hoops first-team. However, it is no surprise to see three of Celtic’s most important players selected for the national team.
Trio must avoid injury

Celtic fans will be hoping that none of the trio suffer an injury on international duty. They are collectively too important to Celtic to miss any fixtures.
As for Griffiths, it is not that much of a surprise to see him miss out on the squad. He needs a run of games in the first-team before he can be really judged this season.
Striker currently third choice?

At the moment, he is behind Odsonne Edouard in the striker pecking order for Celtic. He didn’t even feature in Celtic’s last league game, as Vakoun Issouf Bayo got the nod to start against Hearts.
There is still time for the player to come good this season though. For now though, Celtic fans will spending the international break with bated breath, hoping that none of the key trio suffer an injury.
