Celtic superstar Kieran Tierney has been praising the Hoops’ big-game player James Forrest.
Forrest has been receiving all sorts of kind words over the last week. His performance and goal against Aberdeen last Sunday only reiterated the fact that he’s the man for the big occasion.
Since Neil Lennon came in, the winger has been instrumental. Important strikes against Hearts, Hibs, Rangers, and now Aberdeen have proven that he’s invaluable to the cause at Parkhead. Forrest’s knack of getting into the right place at the right time is something he’s really added to his game in recent times.

But Kieran Tierney wasn’t messing about when it came to his own appraisal of Forrest. Having seen first-hand just what Forrest is capable of over the last four years, Tierney told the Scotsman that he’s running out of compliments for him.
“James’s form is scary. He’s had a brilliant season. At this goal, I was actually screaming for the ball. Next thing I know I’m running towards him to say, ‘good job, Jamesie’.
“I am running out of compliments for him because we are complimenting him every week now. He’s scoring goals, getting assists and it really is fantastic to have a player like him in your team.
“I’m so pleased for James. He’s such a hard worker and is one that keeps his head down, he doesn’t like the headlines, he is happy to get on with his football. He’s a really special player.”
The spine of 10-in-a-row
If Celtic can get over the line for 10-in-a-row, players like Forrest deserve more credit than most. The likes of he, Scott Brown, and Kieran Tierney will have been the spine of the side throughout the most difficult years of the 10.
Of course, only Brown and Forrest can actually lay claim to playing a part in all 10 titles, should we manage it. Then again, we’re wary that we’ve only just about wrapped up number eight – there’s still plenty of time to go before we can be celebrating that glorious first for Scottish football.

Frank McAvennie recently claimed that he believes that Forrest can do more. But that’s unfair when you look at his contribution of 22 goals for club and country this season. Considering he’s not even a forward, that’s a remarkable return.
There will be times when the Scotland international doesn’t perform well. That’s football. If he was performing every single week and destroying teams left, right, and centre, then he would be nowhere near Celtic Park.
So Tierney’s praise is hugely justified. Forrest continues to have a storming campaign, and considering the competition he’ll have next season with Maryan Shved, it’s a good time to be stepping it up.
