Kieran Tierney has confirmed that he hasn’t been contacted by Brendan Rodgers regarding a Celtic departure.
The Northern Irishman swapped Celtic for Leicester last month. Since then, there’s been reports about Tierney potentially doing the same in the summer.
It would be a mighty surprise if Rodgers didn’t come back looking for Celtic’s top talent. He helped bring on the likes of Tierney, Callum McGregor, and James Forrest massively. It must, therefore, be in his mind to head back to Parkhead and have some summer discussions.

But, so far, Tierney has confirmed he hasn’t heard from Rodgers about leaving. Instead, he insists they only shared a couple of text messages after his departure. Speaking in the Evening Times, Tierney had this to say about Rodgers.
“No, I’ve not seen him since. I had a few text messages just after he left but that’s it.
“Yeah (I was surprised) because it all happened overnight. We woke up in the morning and it was all over the papers and the news with everybody talking about it. We went up to Lennoxtown and the next thing we know we’ve got a new manager.
“Listen, he gave us so much success and I think it’s just hard the way it’s all happened for us. For the players, we’re all supporters of the club as well.”
Tierney clearly not too pleased with Rodgers
Tierney is one of the players who would have a right to be furious at Rodgers’ departure. And, clearly from his words here, there’s a bit of anger in the Celtic man towards the Northern Irishman.
But, the most important part of Tierney’s comments is his communication with Rodgers. It doesn’t look as though there’s been anything between the pair about future plans. It also doesn’t seem as though Leicester have gotten in touch with Celtic regarding a summer move for Tierney.

Rodgers, of course, is still learning about his squad down in Leicester. It would be an extreme surprise if he came to a conclusion just yet about what kind of players he needs. But given the speculation over current left-back Ben Chilwell, Rodgers could need another in the summer.
As a matter of principle, you would like to think Celtic would rebuff anything from Leicester. The pain of Rodgers’ departure hasn’t been forgotten about. Celtic are also in such a healthy financial position that they could afford to turn the likes of Leicester away.
Letting him take the likes of Tierney from Parkhead in the summer would be doubly sickening. But it appears there’s been no contact so far anyway.
